CBA Spotlight: Monica Thorsen

Chair
CBA Alumni Chapter

Monica ThorsenWhen she's not busy working in the SunTrust Mortgage Department, Monica Thorsen likes to play volleyball. She continues to be a valuable team player off the court as well, by serving as chair of the UCF College of Business Administration Alumni Chapter.

Thorsen graduated from the CBA with a marketing degree in 2002, and remains loyal to her alma mater. She encourages graduates to join the UCF Alumni Association. "Joining the alumni association is a great way to stay involved and support UCF. It is a chance to meet other business professionals and to give back to the community," she said.

The CBA Alumni Chapter meets monthly and hosts a variety of events throughout the year. "Every year we hold a signature golf tournament that helps to raise scholarship funds for business students. We also participate in an annual event with the Community Service Chapter where we help paint two to three homes in conjunction with Senior's First," she said. "In addition, we hold a quarterly networking or social event that gives fellow alums a chance to mingle both socially and professionally," she added.

The CBA Alumni Chapter meets monthly at the Executive Development Center in downtown Orlando to help plan upcoming events. If anyone is interested in getting involved with the chapter please contact Monica Thorsen or Don Swift, Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Relations, College of Business Administration.
