End of Program Options

Thesis Option

Six credit hours of thesis may be used to complete the M.S. in Economics degree. The candidate may fulfill this requirement by completing a formal thesis (ECO 6971) on a topic selected in consultation with the candidate's advisory committee and which meets both departmental and university requirements.  The final examination consists of an oral examination over the thesis.

Course Work Option

In lieu of a Thesis, two additional 6000 or 7000-level Economics courses must be taken. Candidates choosing the course work option will be required to write a research paper that draws on their training. An oral examination completes this option.
