Prerequisites -  M.S. Foundation Requirements

The following prerequisites (or equivalents) must be completed before enrolling in 6000-level graduate courses. Prerequisite work may be entirely or partially satisfied through prior equivalent course work. Normally, such course work must have been satisfactorily completed at a nationally or regionally accredited college or university, preferably one accredited by the AACSB. Prerequisite course work does not count toward the 30 semester hours credit required for completion of the M.S. degree.

  • ECO 3101 Intermediate Microeconomics
  • ECO 3203 Intermediate Macroeconomics
  • ECO 4412 Econometrics or equivalent
  • ECO 3410 Mathematical Economics or Calculus III

M.S. Program (30 Hours)

  • ECO 6403 Mathematical Economics (Fall)
  • ECO 6206 Macroeconomic Theory I (Fall)
  • ECO 6118 Microeconomic Theory I (Fall)
  • ECO 6424 Econometrics I (Spring)
Required courses MUST be completed before electives can be taken.

Electives (at least 3 must be Economics electives)

  • 6000 Graduate Elective I
  • 6000 Graduate Elective II
  • 6000 Graduate Elective III
  • 6000 Graduate Elective IV

I. Thesis Option

  • ECO 6971 (6 Hours) Thesis and oral exam

II. Non-Thesis Course Work Option

  • Two 6000 Level Economics courses, research paper, and oral exam
