Internship Information
The Internship Program of the Department of Economics offers qualified students the opportunity to gain valuable experience at an organization or company while receiving academic credit. The organization gains an additional staff member who can be assigned where need is greatest while recognizing an obligation to help the intern acquire new skills and explore a career field. Interns are expected to provide their sponsoring firms valuable assistance in their day-to-day functions, as well as perform specific duties in diverse activities of the organization. - Upon completing the internship, students earn three (3) credit hours
- An S/U grade will be given for this course based on grading criteria listed
- The internship satisfies an elective for an Economics major

Basic Academic Requirements
- Economics major
- Junior or Senior class standing
- 2.5 GPA overall
Internship Rules
- The internship cannot be with your present company, unless it will be under a supervisor other than your present one.
- The internship should provide the intern with some new business-related skills
- You are expected to work a minimum of 20 hours a week for the internship
Application Procedures

- Letter from supervisor on company letterhead detailing major responsibilities, hours, etc.
Progress Reports for each Semester
- Submit three (3) one page memos (via fax, letter, or in person) summarizing the progress of your internship. These memos must be read, acknowledged and signed by your intern supervisor. Due on 4th, 8th, and 12th week of the semester.
- Keep a diary of job-related activities
- Keep copies of memos, reports, etc. that you prepare
Evaluations
- Progress Report memos
- Internship Supervisor Final Report (must be faxed or mailed directly by intern supervisor)
- The Final Report should include seven to ten (7-10) pages summarizing your work as an intern, discuss what skills you have learned , and discuss the skills and concepts learned at UCF that were applied as an intern.
