About

MSDN Academic AllianceThe MSDN Academic Alliance is an annually paid membership program that provides easy access to Microsoft software. The UCF MIS department pays for this MSDN AA membership. Therefore, MIS major students registered for certain courses may acquire some Microsoft developer software for free or purchase at a drastically reduced cost. If you are not registered for a particular ISM course, you will not have access to this program (see list of courses).

The software products are full versions and do not have an expiration date after being installed. If you have questions about this program, please email the MIS Department at mis@bus.ucf.edu.

If you have login problems, read the Login Instructions. If you still have login problems, email the MIS department. Include in your message the ISM course(s) (with section number) that you are currently registered in.

Eligible students may either download the software, checkout the software CDs, or purchase the software (the software will then be mailed to you). Whichever method you would like to do, you must log into the MSDN AA - UCF MIS Software Center (login instructions and Software Center link).

Special Notice: If you are running Vista, you may need to download the appropriate patches from Microsoft.

Vista Users: In order to install SQL Server 2005 you will also have to install SQL Server 2005 SP2 as you will not be able to choose Windows Authentication if you do not have the Service Pack installed.

Also, some of you have reported having issues checking out Visual Studio.NET. It seems that on the checkout site there is a link for Visual Studio.NET 2005 that only allows you to purchase the software. Don't be alarmed as there is a second link there for Visual Studio 2005. This is the same product as Visual Studio.NET 2005 and will allow you to check-out the disks. Additionally, you will only need to register for Visual Studio 2005 CD 1. That will get you access to all of the install CDs as well as the MSDN library.

If you are running Windows XP Home, the software may not load correctly. Upgrade to Windows XP Professional.
