Ph.D. in Accounting

The Kenneth G. Dixon School of Accounting offers a challenging and rewarding Ph.D. Program in Business Administration with a major in Accounting.  The program is particularly attractive to students interested in behavioral, ethical, information systems, regulatory, and public interest aspects of accounting. On the other hand, the program would most likely not be attractive to students who are strictly interested in financial accounting and capital markets research. You can find out details about our program in the UCF Graduate Catalog.

Accounting PhD students are generally expected to have a GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher in their Master's program and a GMAT score of 640 or higher. Admittance into the program is competitive and highly selective, with only three to five students admitted in each class. Thus, these GPA and GMAT guidelines provide general information regarding two important factors that we consider in our admittance decisions.  Applicants who meet or exceed these guidelines are NOT guaranteed admittance into the program. Other applicant characteristics such as relevant work experience and research interest, and results of personal interviews by faculty are also considered.

We only start a class of Accounting PhD students every other year. The next entering class will start Fall 2009.  If you have some program deficiencies, you may be able to start January 2009.  If you do not have a master's degree, you will want to time graduation from the master's program with this Fall 2009 start date.
